Letter from a father to his son

My child comes.

I need to talk to you, listen carefully. Open your ears carefully. What I am going to tell you, keep it preciously engraved in your heart. It will be a very precious treasure for you.

It’s back to school time, and you need to listen to me.

It’s a new year beginning for you, a new beginning, which will come with new realities.

Remember, a child always receives three different or contrary educations: in addition to that of his father, he receives that of his teachers, and that of his company. Never forget that bad companies and teachers will tend to overthrow your father’s education.

My son, I am an imperfect father, and so is your mother. We have so many limitations and we make so many mistakes. Over time, you will notice all our weaknesses and shortcomings, but never forget that we don’t want you to make the same mistakes we did. I’ll know we succeeded, if you’re better than us.

My son, I have educated you to tell the truth in all circumstances. So we will tell you that not every truth is worth telling. However, know that every truth is good to tell, it is men who are not always ready to listen to the truth. Don’t be like those hypocrites, who say nothing in public, and tell all kinds of truths in private.

You will certainly taste the whip, I am a father who does not hesitate to chastise his children whom he loves. But remember what I often tell you: “the marks of the whip disappear, the traces of insults never.” It is better to be whipped than to be called a beast, a fool or an idiot. Whip oil is the best remedy for laziness cramps. And some of you are like creams, to make them better you have to whip them.

My son, you will have new friends, chicer, classier and more understanding than me. But know this: belittling me, or exalting me will not change anything in my ambition to always be the best of fathers for you. I will always be the father you can count on, and I will always fight for your hopes.

My son, always aim for progress not perfection. Because the true perfection of Man is in his imperfection. The weaker you find yourself, the more willing you will be to let yourself be used by The Father, Our God. He always takes the weak to make them the symbol of His decrees. When you aim for progress, you compare yourself to yourself, and when you aim for perfection, you compare yourself to others: avoid comparing yourself to others, nor to your friends, nor to your brothers, nor to any other human.

My son, you are not in competition with anyone on earth. You are unique. The world and teachers will encourage you to be the best, but your goal should never be to surpass others, but rather to excel yourself. If you want to be the greatest, consider everyone to be superior to you, and put yourself in the service of others.

Son, you are very intelligent, you will be a brilliant ATOUNDEM, a name which means the head of God in your father’s language, or the wisdom of God. But know this: not all those who cheer you will always want your success, and those to whom you serve will some rise against you. Just watch out!

My son, always trust in God, always put your trust in Him, He will act. I have met several parents who abandon the fruit of their womb. I have even seen brothers rise against their brother under the conspiracy of their mother. I then understood that the Bible is not out of date, it is very current. What makes the difference between all these children destroyed by their parents is their attachment to God. God never gives up.

Dear child, I have always commanded you to be authentic and true with everyone. You will be encouraged to hide your negative sides to expose your positive sides. Know this: A friend is someone who knows everything about you and loves you anyway. Be true in all circumstances, and know that true love cannot be negotiated, but learned.

My son, be faithful in little things. Never take anything that doesn’t belong to you, not even a cheap pen or pencil. Never deceive anyone, even in the smallest things. And as I taught you, never cheat, even in the smallest details, during your exams. It is better to fail than to cheat and succeed. Those who live this way get God’s best in life – in every generation – even in times of high inflation and recession.

My son, I have no doubt, I know that you will succeed in your life. But know this: that doesn’t mean you’ll never fall or fail. However, you must never give up. Even if you fail for the 1000th time in anything, you just have to get back up and keep walking. You must not allow your past failures to haunt you. The fear of failure is an obsessive fear that you will have to get rid of. Failure is a good thing, it allows you to strip yourself, to start again lighter. Know that your father also failed a lot, and that he was not always first. I did the CEPE three times, I did the fourth twice, I never obtained my License in Mathematics. And yet today I am a polytechnic engineer. I created a breeding company, a competitive exam preparation company, an IT company, all of them failed. And that didn’t diminish my happiness and good humor. I’m still an entrepreneur and I have this business that you know. Failure is just God’s way of asking you to change direction.

My son, never forget that you are not perfect. So always seek wisdom before making any decision. Know that bad decisions waste time, and that there are opportunities that only come once in a lifetime. Your greatest asset will be the art of problem solving. So learn to face your opponents. Avoid denial and take charge. But know that the real sorcerer is not the one who makes incantations, but the one who tells things about you to everyone except you. Get out of this type of person’s environment, even if they’re your parent.

But my child, if you have a problem with your neighbor, always go to him, and never fall into the curse of gossip. If you know how to confront those who harm you, then you will have mastery of problem solving, and will easily discern your real enemies.

Generally, when people have things against you, they will inform the whole world without addressing you directly, but don’t be like these people, it’s witchcraft. You are a child of light. Always meet the one who talks behind your back, and confront him by looking him straight in the eyes, if he doesn’t stop, then consider him a sorcerer.

My son, learn to redeem time. Don’t waste your time redoing if your neighbor knows how to do it, and is willing to help you. So be humble, you are not in competition with anyone. Therefore, don’t hesitate to ask how things are done or what needs to be done to succeed. Even if for this you need more than humility, that is to say humiliation. Do not be ashamed of your ignorance, but fight against all ignorance. So learn everything every day. Read, practice, relearn, act, and Improve yourself.

You will learn to debate. Know that we do not argue to be right, but to enrich ourselves. So avoid any discussion about who is right or wrong.

My son, take an interest in politics without getting involved. Learn about political parties without campaigning. You must learn how Men influence men and how leaders manage the nation, if you want to work to positively influence the future. However, keep in mind that it is dangerous to play politics on earth. And never forget that despite everything, you remain an ambassador of the Kingdom of God, if the desire to campaign takes you.

My dear child, I leave you with this last piece of advice, which you already know: never forget that no one has a monopoly on suffering, and your best enemy is always the one you will not suspect. So never put your trust in Man, but in God.

You will be told that God always acts through a Man, do not fall into this limitation. Never limit your God, who never lacks instruments. Moreover, He Himself says that He curses those who put their trust in Man. Know that God will not always come through a Man. He used an angel to help Daniel out of the lions’ den. He himself spoke to Paul on the road to Damascus. He used a donkey to talk to Balam. Our Father is not limited, never limits him.

God bless you son!

Your father who loves you, because the Father loves us.
